The boys, known for their street-style cricket played in the greens and gardens of suburban England, continue their global adventures as they join us at the Emirates Dubai 7s, from 28 - 30 November.
Born in the green back gardens of England, brothers Mark and James Wood helped reignite a new wave of love for cricket among young fans, alongside their best mates, with a street style that fused precision, passion, and cheeky professionalism (with fewer smashed windows).
Now, the boys are bringing their makeshift magic to the Emirates Dubai 7s. As official Cricket Ambassadors, they'll be joining in on all the action across the festival. They’ll be taking part in the Invitational Tournament, running cricket masterclasses, and hosting their very own Backyard Cricket setup on the main festival site.
With their tongue-in-cheek laughs, cheeky challenges, and raw grassroots passion, Backyard Cricket have taken their shenanigans from the banana-leaf backyards of Kerala to the crystal white sands of Barbados, playing alongside legends like Adil Rashid and Ben Stokes, and starring in the Red Bull Showdown mini-series in India.
What’s made these lads so popular is their nostalgic, unfiltered charm, reminding us all of rolled sleeves, dad’s old cricket bat, and praying not to smash the neighbour’s window as we shout “Six!”
Keep an eye on our website and social media for info on how to join their masterclasses and experience cricket like never before, as sport, celebration, and pure backyard banter collide at this year’s Emirates Dubai 7s.
