New for 2025, we are delighted to announce the introduction of two new social tournaments; a Men's International "Super" Social division, and, for the first time, an International Social Women's division!

International Social - WOMEN

With a quarter of the rugby playing population now female, and a staggering 28% increase in female rugby players since 2017, there is no surprise that we have received unprecedented demand to increase opportunities for Women and Girls to participate at the Emirates Dubai 7s, and we are only too delighted to oblige!

Joining the top level, International Invitational and the competitive International Open divisions, we have no doubt that the new International Social for Women will encourage more teams to have a brilliant weekend of fun and competitive rugby in the Dubai sunshine!

Who is it for?

This division is intended for female social teams or social players who have current or recent previous experience of participating in lower level domestic, community level / amateur rugby or are from countries where women and girls rugby is still very much at its development stage.

It is not suitable for individuals who play regular competitive rugby or are registered competitive players or those who receive financial or other forms of remuneration or benefit from playing rugby.

  • Team managers will be required to certify that team members comply with ‘social’ status as specified.
  • Youth Players: 17-year-olds (at the time of competition) wishing to play for adult teams must provide written parental/guardian permission to the Tournament Management with accreditation information. Those aged 16 years or younger may not play for adult teams.
  • Accreditation: Teams receive – 12 Player & 2 Management passes i.e. 14 passes total.

Guidelines on the Appropriate Standard of Play

  • Playing or recently played lower level community level / amateur rugby in established rugby markets
  • Playing domestically in a country which is in early stages in the development of women and girls rugby
  • Training and playing  a total of no more than 3 times a week
  • No professional club / academy players (current or in last 2 years)
  • No ex professionals retired within last 3 years
  • Teams can be made up of clubs or individuals gathering together specifically for this Tournament.

International “Super” Social – Men

Our Invitational Social division is always one of our most popular tournaments.

Given the significant number of participating teams (32), we have noted a consistent and significant disparity between teams in the top 16 (Cup and Plate Comps) and those playing for Plate and Shield. We have elected to create a 16 Team International Social and introduce a 16 team now "Super" social category, designed to ensure high levels of competition in the Pool phase and Finals Series for each division. If you're unsure which division to enter once you have read the below eligibility criteria please email Dubai.7s@thesevens.ae for advice and assistance.
