Dinesh Karthik announced as Cricket ambassador at Emirates Dubai 7s cricket festival

  • Former professional international Indian cricketer will be joining festivities at our cricket site and hosting masterclasses alongside further world-class cricket stars including English International players Tom Hartley and Fi Morris
  • More cricket action due to record interest from cricket fans with lots more to enjoy at the cricket site such as new food outlets, an entertainment stage, screens and shuttle buggies across festival

Renowned for his fifteen-year international cricket career, having played over 300 matches and captained the Kolkata Knight Riders, Karthik, the legendary former wicketkeeper-batsman will be a central cricket figure throughout our 3-day festival.

Celebrated for his match-winning knockout in the Nidahas Trophy final in 2018, 7s fans will be thrilled to catch Dinesh Karthik joining into the festival fun in Dubai. He will also host a series of masterclasses throughout the event alongside further world-famous cricket stars, including former English world cup winners Georgia Elwiss and Alex Hartley, English international and Lancashire player Tom Hartley, who was part of the recent T20 World Cup squad in June, and Lancashire Thunder all-rounder Fi Morris. These players, known for their expertise and contributions to the sport, will offer fans a unique opportunity to learn and engage with some of the sport’s greatest talents.

With lots of cricket action to spectate across the 3-day spectacle, including a variety of matches presented by Dulsco, that will see amateur teams from across the UAE and Middle East play in addition to the world-class player tournaments, there is so much on offer for festival go-ers. That’s not all, ticket holders of the Emirates Dubai 7s will get an exclusive front seat at the first ever tournament between two of the world’s largest cricket supporter groups. Don’t miss the UK’s Barmy Army take on India’s Bharat Army in an exclusive match, as part of the Open Competitive Tournament.

In line with even more cricket action to be a part of this year, the cricket site has also got bigger and better. Not only will the cricket grounds host its very own entertainment stage, but there will also be screens showcasing the rugby, so fans don’t miss out on a thing. Additionally, transport got a little easier as there will be shuttle buggies going to and from the corners of the North and East Grandstand plus a variety of accessible transport options going to and from the Stadium. In terms of F&B, fans will be pleased to learn about the cricket’s site’s new F&B addition, Indian fusion street food truck Desi me Rollin which will join cricket’s usual F&B offerings.

Dinesh Karthik comments: “It is a huge pleasure to be named the official cricket ambassador for the Emirates Dubai 7s event this year. I am excited to be part of the Emirates Dubai 7s action and to share my passion for cricket with fans across the UAE. An event that was once a rugby event that has now evolved into so much more, it’s great to witness the variety of sports continue to thrive in this region, and I look forward to meeting cricket-enthusiasts and experiencing all that’s in store at the cricket site.”
