Following the huge success of rugby sevens’ at the Paris Olympics, World Rugby has today confirmed the first five destinations and dates of the much anticipated HSBC SVNS 2025, including Dubai as the host of the first leg, here at Emirates Dubai 7s on 29th November - 1st December 2024!
Both South Africa Men and Australia Women returning to try and reclaim their previous wins in Dubai. The 24 teams will then move, as with previous years straight onto the DHL Stadium in Cape Town, for the second round on 7– 8 December 2024.
Following their highly successful 2024 debut, the third round of the series will return for a second year in Australia’s west coast at HBF Park on 24 – 26 January.
Vancouver will be home to the fourth round on 21 – 23 February at the atmospheric BC Place. Finally on the 28 – 30 March the Cathay/HSBC Hong Kong Sevens is confirmed to take place.
The Grand final of the SVNS 2025 events will be announced in the coming weeks, with ongoing, advanced discussions with other host destinations it’ll be sure to finish off the series with a powerful punch.
The 2025 Series will capture the talent from the best 12 men’s and women’s teams in the world, with fan favourites and Olympic medallists. Following on from the record breaking triumph at Paris 2024, with more than 530,000 fans filling the Stade de France and tens of millions watching around the globe, this series is set to be exciting, exhilarating and highly competitive.
The SVNS series welcomes three new teams competing in 2025 securing promotion from the HSBC Sevens Challenger play off in Madrid 2024.
The women’s participating teams are: New Zealand, Australia, France, USA, Canada, Fiji, Ireland, Great Britain, Japan, Brazil, Spain and China.
The men’s teams roster includes: Argentina, Ireland, New Zealand, Australia, France, Fiji, South Africa, Great Britain, USA, Spain, Uruguay and Kenya.
